The History of Hillsboro First Baptist Church
Founded March 2, 1884
“Faithful until He comes…” I Thessalonians 5:24
“‘Faithful is He who calls you and He will bring it to pass.’ So states I Thessalonians 5:24. … (T)his history (of our church) is an account of the workings of God through, and sometimes in spite of, man. It would be wonderful to say that we have always been as faithful to the Lord as we should have been. But that simply is not true. What is true is that God has been faithful to His work. It is nothing short of miraculous to see how God has used people to see that the name of Jesus is proclaimed throughout the world…. (S)pend some time asking the Lord what He would like to do through us today. … God has something important for us to do as individuals and as a body of believers.”

Pastor Jerry’s Retirement
Pastor Jerry Propst retired at the end of January 2008 after over 38 years in various pastoral roles at HFBC. He and his wife Mary Lee have served the Lord and our local church faithfully, and we know that the Lord will be faithful in guiding them as their lives take a new direction.
Great is the LORD and greatly to be praised;
And His greatness is unsearchable.
One generation shall praise Your works to another,
and shall declare Your mighty acts….
They shall utter the memory of Your awesome goodness,
And shall sing of Your righteousness.
Psalm 145:3-4, 7
