Héctor Rodríguez came from Guatemala to Portland, Oregon, in January 1985 to study at Western Baptist Seminary, where he earned a Master of Theology. In September of that year he became involved in the establishment of the Hispanic ministry at Hillsboro First Baptist Church by visiting members of the Hispanic community in Hillsboro. He moved from Portland to Hillsboro when he assumed leadership as Senior Pastor of the Iglesia Evangélica Hispana in August 1987. During his years in Portland Héctor was also involved in starting another Hispanic ministry, resulting in a church which continues to meet every Sunday at 2:00 pm in the facilities of North Portland Baptist Church.

Before coming to Oregon, Héctor earned a degree to teach high school at the Universidad del Valle de Guatemala (Del Valle University in Guatemala) and a Bachelor of Theology at the Central American Theology Seminary in Guatemala.

He also gained years of experience in establishing and leading new churches. In a small village near Guatemala City, he started a church and provided leadership for five years, until they found a full-time pastor. Soon after that he helped to start another new church, this time in Guatemala City, where he was the assistant pastor for ten years.

Héctor began his personal relationship with the Lord at age 7, when he received Jesus as his personal Savior; at the age of 17 he began serving the Lord in various ministries. In September 2000 Hector married Graciela, who is from Venezuela. Their marriage was celebrated by members of both the Iglesia Evangélica Hispana and Hillsboro First Baptist Church.

Héctor and Graciela are involved together in ministering to the Hispanic community through Home Bible Studies which meet in Hillsboro, Aloha, and Cornelius, and through two radio broadcasts. These programs, “AVANCE” and “Gente Como Tu”, seek to glorify the name of Jesus Christ by offering listeners Bible based teaching. They can be heard on K-Praise/Radio Vida 1330 AM on Fridays beginning at 9:30 pm.

Héctor and Graciela can be contacted at (503) 407-4407 or (503) 681-8310 or by email. You can visit their church website at: Iglesia Evangélica Hispana.

If you live near the city of Hillsboro and do not have a place to worship the Lord, don’t look anymore! Come join us and grow together in the knowledge of the Word of God. Our mission is to fulfill the Great Commission. “Go and make disciples.” (Matthew 28:19)

We exist to serve you, according to our abilities; thank you for letting us do this. I desire that our God blesses you abundantly.
